Inspiration is at its best when it prompts us to act on someone else’s behalf. At Forgotten, we strive to act on the behalf of others. On behalf of consumers who desire to learn about and advocate for those who are trapped in a systemic cycle of suffering. On behalf of producers who desire opportunities to better the lives of themselves, their families and communities.
We act because we believe that actions speak louder than words. And it is our desire to actively seek and develop opportunities that engage consumers and benefit producers within the context of a new global economy bent toward justice and equality. Idealistic? Perhaps, but necessary and worth advocating for.
Put simply, we create opportunities for others by producing relevant and notable t-shirts. These t-shirts offer those with purchasing power a practical means of shopping justly while offering producers a means of employment with greater possibilities. We purchase our shirts from cotton farmers and apparel manufacturers in some of the poorest regions of sub-Saharan Africa. We pay a fair and competitive price that, in turn, helps to create well-paying job opportunities that allow these producers to earn a living wage, support their families, reinvest in communities and maximize their potential.
In addition, we partner with youth involved in a local non-profit program called Youth Enterprise—where each t-shirt is screen printed by hand. This program provides employment to urban youth and is centered around life and business skill training, leadership, academic support, mentoring, fellowship and Christian faith development.
Our products are unique. Our work transformational. And our invitation simple. Support the cause of the forgotten, both near and far, by joining a movement of conscious consumers who purchase our products and stand up for those who are often unable to stand up for themselves.
